Providing a Lifeline

Stabilizing basic needs is the first and most important step in changing lives.

We Need Your Help To Continue Doing Direct Outreach! Throughout COVID, winter weather, extreme heat, and more JHH has sent teams of outreach workers to engage in direct outreach and serve the homeless and marginalized of our City. Take three minutes, watch this video, and discover how you can get involved and help Jewels Helping Hands to continue engaging in direct outreach. Our homeless friends need you, and so do we.

About

Who We Are

Our Mission

Through kindness, compassion, and respect, we ensure people who are houseless have their basic needs met- to survive, thrive, and connect to community resources.

Our programs

We provide a wide variety of services including a warming center, street medical teams, mobile outreach, food, mobile showers, hygiene supplies, and connection to community resources and services. Our programs are designed to enable people to survive their journey through homelessness.

Core values

As a community we are accountable to ensure all people are treated with dignity and respect. All people deserve to be valued, cared for, and have their basic needs met.

The Least of These is a one-hour documentary that tells the story of how City Church of Spokane partnered with Jewels Helping Hands to serve the homeless by hosting a temporary homeless warming shelter in their annex building. Their story offers an example of how churches can get practically involved fulfilling Jesus’ commands in Matthew 25:31-46 to serve “the least of these.”

supporting people where it matters

Providing support, hope, and inspiration to end the cycle of homelessness.

Mobile Outreach

Jewels Helping Hands conducts regular daily outreach to people experiencing homelessness on the streets of our City, leading street medical teams and distributing meals and other necessities. We also provide regular meals to non-profits and shelters upon request.

The Dignity Of A Shower

Personal hygiene, including showers, is a constant challenge in the homeless community. There are very limited shower options for people experiencing homelessness. Jewels owns and operates two mobile shower units on a weekly schedule, providing showers at 5 different locations every week. At each location we offer clean clothes, towels, hygiene supplies, bus passes and laundry cards. See our mobile shower at work in this documentary short piece, "The Dignity Of A Shower."

Regular Outreach To the Unsheltered Homeless

Jewels Outreach Supervisor Ken Crary (left) visiting with a resident of a local homeless camp.

Jewels Helping Hands conducts daily outreach to the unsheltered homeless to take food, supplies and basic needs to where people need it.  Through this outreach, we also coordinate referrals and support to successfully access other community resources, treatment programs, health services, shelters, and housing. Below is a short documentary video of our outreach teams taking a street medical team to visit local homeless camps.
